In the heat of the Andalusian summer, young altar boy Elías doesn’t know what to do with himself. He sees something more in the heroic depictions of martyrs and a playful statue of Jesus. Fascinated by the suffering of saints, he’s fostering masochistic tendencies – perhaps in an attempt to get closer to God. The struggle with repressed desire and faith, however, mainly reveals forbidden love. Passion and self-destructive behavior spiral out of control: but won’t his own faith flay him to the bone?
