Helen works at the local chicken factory and lives with her ex-husband’s mom. Even that might be manageable if her constantly cantankerous ex didn’t live there too… With his new family. Stuck in the gray grind of daily routine, Helen’s only joy comes from her wacky friends. But things take a turn when the mysterious Joanne rolls into town – with dimples, broad shoulders, and a slick car, she’s like a dream come true for Helen. Will our protagonist manage to overcome the shadows of the past and grab her second shot at love? Chuck Chuck Baby hijacks the rom-com genre but adds a sprinkle of quirky musical numbers and a dive into the heart of Britain’s working class. In her feature debut, director Janis Pugh brings a colorful portrayal of female friendship and connection, and a feel-good nudge to all those scared to step out of their comfort zone.
