Teaches of Peaches

Just like her music, Peaches is playfully provocative, unapologetically queer, and, above all, fiercely herself. At the turn of the millennium, she rose to fame with her Fuck the Pain Away from the Teaches of Peaches album, a song that nonchalantly celebrated female sexuality and freedom with its titillating lyrics and light electronic beat. This documentary gives us a peek behind the scenes of her anniversary tour and, more importantly, her creative process. Surprisingly candid and direct interviews are paired with unique footage from her personal archive. These materials also offer a glimpse of the shifting landscape of pop culture since the early 2000s. While feminism and liberal gender values have finally made their way into the mainstream, Peaches proves she’s still one step ahead.
