The Swedish-Georgian drama from the world of folk dances And Then We Danced hits Czech cinemas. This expressive film, which became the most favorite film of the audience at the 20th anniversary of the Mezipatra festival, is presented as the third film under our new distribution brand Queer Kino. Since May 11, 2020, you can visit cinemas all over the Czech Republic to see Levan Akin's controversial film. Follow our social media, websites of your favorite cinemas or the CSFD website, where the screening times of the film will be gradually published.

Michaela Karásek Čejková has been co-creating the main visuals of our festival with graphic designer Mario Corradini for 5 years. Her undeniable talent brought her to the finals of the Czech Grand Design competition, in which she won the Photographer of the Year 2019 award on April 29, 2020. She received this prestigious award for her photographs of the Sadalsuud collection by jeweler Janja Prokić, photographs for the Czechia project, photographs of the collection To a jen sen (Ester a Josefina) and also for photographs for the visual of the 20th Mezipatra QFF (bellow). Michaela, congratulations!

The online premiere of And Then We Danced on Tuesday, April 28, will be followed by an after party in a virtual rhythm. From 10:15 p.m, QFF Mezipatra Facebook profile will livestream from the Patra club where DJ arnii will play his set. The Prague-based DJ, which belongs to the ONYX label, is, like the film, originally from Georgia. We can promise you that after watching this controversial film about love, dance and traditions, your feet will not stay calm. Dance with us from a safe distance of your living room! We thank Radio Punctum for lending the equipment.

So far there has been no distribution brand in the Czech Republic that focuses exclusively on queer films. This changed in July 2019 when we launched a new distribution brand Queer Kino. Thanks to Queer Kino, anyone can see the best and latest queer-themed films across the country even outside the festival week.

Have you missed some of the short films at the 20th Mezipatra? We've got you covered! Catch up with all the films of this year's short film competition during one weekend in Patra.
