Zuhur's Daughters / Zuhurs Töchter

Documentary

As soon as Lohan and Samar settle down with their family in Germany, they start causing trouble. At least, that's how their parents see it. They didn't expect that both their teen children would use freedom and security they’d lacked in Syria to transition. But regardless of the unusual circumstances, Lohan and Samar are ordinary teenagers. They experiment with make-up and clothes and experience their first romances. This observational coming-of-age documentary chronicles three years of the sisters' daily lives, their transition to adulthood, and the reaction of a family that strives to accept them despite religion, cultural customs, and fear of condemnation by their community.
