Spider Lilies / Ci qing

Young Jade makes her living as a webcam girl, and because she wants to be even more attractive to her clients, she decides to get a tattoo. She decides to make an appointment with Takeko, a mysterious tattoo artist who is rumored to have a framed human skin with a lily tattoo on the wall of her parlor. But when she meets her, she recognises her childhood sweetheart. Will Takeko remember, too? And what happens when she visits Jade's chatroom where she is waiting for a declaration of love? Taiwanese director Zero Chou's multi-layered work is a captivating celebration of storytelling. The protagonists tell stories about their past to a silent audience: Jade to the invisible clients on the other side of the camera, Takeko to her sick brother. But are they telling the truth? This love drama with detective elements touches on such questions as the reliability of memory, living in dreams, carefully constructed illusions and a personal history that is sometimes as tangled as a spider lily.
