Changing the Game
DocumentaryThree high-schoolers--Sarah, Andraya and Mack--want nothing more than to focus fully on sports and represent their schools in order to get a university scholarship. Their schedules are dominated solely by lessons and training. Free time is non-existent for them. But their situation is complicated by the fact that they're trans, and according to the sports rules, they must compete in a category they would not voluntarily choose for themselves. Critical reactions come soon enough and trigger a crucial question: can hormone therapy be considered doping? Director Michael Barnett's documentary focuses on the problematic issue of young trans athletes who want to experience the feeling of victory and to have equal future opportunities -- regardless of the fact that their bodies now do not fit the charts of sports committees.
