A lake outside the city, with warm water and a mythical, dangerous catfish, is a paradise on Earth; a place forbidden to women and other intruders. Its a place to swim, expose your naked body to the sun, lazily chat and disappear with a nameless lover into the bushes when the right moment presents itself. Young Franck comes almost every day and soon succumbs to a passionate affair with the macho Michel. However, one day, the lake spits out the dead body of Michel's former partner and an investigator begins his daily sweeps through the gay retreat, convinced that it was murder. Franck goes into a dark spiral of passion for Michel, clouded by the sense of looming mortal danger. One of last year's most critically acclaimed films, it won the Directing Prize and Queer Palme at Cannes after its premiere. The erotic thriller, with touches of dark humor, stands out for its naturalistic scenes and explicit depictions of sex and violence. Viewer discretion is advised.
