Fake Orgasm

A gender illusionist is what Lazlo Pearlman calls himself. And his mission is to daunt audience expectations, giving himself away and going skin deep on stage - quite literally. The best false orgasm competition that Lazlo presents is the starting point of a more serious lively debate about what it takes to be a man or a woman, and what lies in the ambivalent and colorful space in-between these binaries. Although you do not hear the terms queer, performer, activist or actionist once, Lazlo is actually trying to redefine these, while inviting active participation of the audience to shake the rigid categories of gender determination and to show how self-identification does not have to be a negative process of rejecting "all that we are not." Apart from building on the authentic reactions of the attendees of Lazlo's shows, the documentary lets us also take a peek into his private life. Those two combine into a provocative appeal to rethink the nature of heteronormative reality and society's obsession with labels in general.
