The Mezipatra Festival is slowly coming to an end with the last two days of the program. Let's see what else you can experience in Brno!
Today, 21. 11., there will be four festival screenings in three different cinemas. Scala will offer two films, Pooja, sir and I'm Not Everything I Want to Be. The first film is based on true events and tells the story of a lesbian detective inspector from Nepal who investigates the disappearance of two boys. During the investigation she has to deal with misogyny, discrimination and the ongoing protests. I'm Not Who I Want to Be Yet is also based on a true story and follows the life of world-famous photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková. Through her photographs and diaries, you will discover what life was like during communist Czechoslovakia and what the female photographer had to deal with.
The animated film The Missing will be screened at the Lucerna cinema. The film is set in the Philippines and follows the life of a young man, Eric, who has to communicate without words because he has no mouth. After traumatically discovering his dead uncle, extraordinary things start happening to Erik, including an alien invasion. The sci-fi film Lost is shot in rotoscoped animation, which means it was redrawn from real scenes with actors. Don't miss out on this spectacle!
The last screening on Thursday is Small Miracles, which you will be able to see in the small hall of the cinema Art. It is a block of short films full of drama that the main characters have to deal with.
The end of the festival will take place tomorrow. In Kino Art you will see the film Sebastian. It follows a young London writer who begins to live a double life for fame and uses Sebastian, a character from his novel, as inspiration. This film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. At 7:00pm, the closing ceremony will follow in Scala, where the Audience Award for the Best Film will be announced. After that, there will be a screening of the German film Teaches of Peaches about a provocative queer musician and her artistic life and individual creative processes. And finally, the Closing Karaoke Party with Plusko+ awaits us. So don't hesitate and come enjoy the end of the Mezzanine in style!
