Queer Stories in Central European TV

The representation of queer characters in television series is often stigmatized or overlooked. Homophobic attitudes in the CEE region hinder the promotion of LGBTQ+ stories. What challenges arise in the creation of queer series, and how far does censorship reach? These questions will be explored by Hungarian historian Kate Benedek, iVysílání curator Matěj Forejt, Polish director Łukasz Kośmicki, and the creators of the series Spectrum in Czech-Slovak co-production.

BRNO:

Do Our Televisions Support Queer Film?

How much do public media support the representation of queer themes in their films and shows? And what would be the answer to the same question by our friends from Slovakia where the hurriedly dismantled RTVS has succumbed to the government? Does the same fate await Czechia? Come to find out more at our panel discussion with Czech and Slovak creators, hosted by the founder of the Serial Killer Festival and dramaturgist Kamila Zlatušková. The discussion will not be translated into English.
