- Opening: Concerned Citizen
- Audience award 2021: The Law of Love
- Všude dobře, doma dusno (with guests)
Starting Thursday, we're breaking the ice! Mezipatra’s 23rd edition opening ceremony with the screening of Concerned Citizen is sold out, so if you missed the tickets, you have to come to Brno to see this film about gentrification. For now, though, stay in Prague and come see the winner of your, i.e. Audience, Award from 2021. The documentary tragicomedy The Law of Love engagingly tells the story of the Jsme fer initiative campaign and introduces not only our protagonists as they tirelessly fight for equal marriage, but also the opposing side. Madam Jochova’s s activism fills us with dread, but her performances in churches are sure to entertain. Let alone the behaviour of some MPs in the Chamber of Deputies. Světozor cinema, small hall, 8:45 pm.
What about your relatives and their views on our rights? Have you ever tried to discuss marriage in the family or explain non-binarity to them? Or do you treat intergenerational differences as your ex - you know they exist but try to avoid them? Well, don't avoid the Home, Bittersweet Home block of shorts. You won't see a short cartoon about queerness in the animal kingdom or a Chinese coming-out film anywhere else. At 6:30 pm in the small hall of the Lucerna cinema. We're showing it other days too, but the filmmakers themselves will be there on Thursday!
Whichever film you come to see on Thursday, we'll be happy to toast and dance with you at the Ice, Ice Baby opening party at Swim Club, which is about a two and a half minute walk from Lucerna. Plus, it's free with your opening night ticket (kudos to everyone who didn't wait until the first frost to buy one). From 10 pm at 36 Stepanska Street.
