We have published the PROGRAM of this year's Mezipatra! The 23rd edition of the festival encourages Breaking the Ice. The theme refers to stepping out of the comfort zone and to the courage required to overcome one's own shadow. And that's exactly what the characters of 71 films accomplish. See their stories roll out on the big screen on November 3-10, 2022 in Prague and on November 11-18, 2022 in Brno. Get inspired by this year's queer hreoes*heroines and break the ice around you!

PROGRAM OF THE FESTIVAL

STRONG INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

10 feature films will compete for the prize of the Main jury. All of them are linked by the courage of the characters to run toward the ice wall. What shouldn't you miss? After its screening in Cannes, the French film Five Devils (Les Cinq diables) is coming to Mezipatra to break through genres. Look forward to an artwork balancing science fiction, horror and magical realism. Don't miss the amazing Paloma from Brazil either. In order to fulfill her dream of getting married in a church, she does not hesitate to turn even to the Pope himself. The Polish drama All Our Fears (Wszystkie nasze strachy), set in the Catholic countryside, will show that breaking the ice means calling things what they are.

36 short films will compete for the favor of the Student jury. They tell about first loves, shame, breaking gender stereotypes or about our dark sides. Try to catch the screenings of all the six thematic blocks!

ICONIC DOCUMENTS, NOSTALGIC RETROSPECTIVE AND SOMETHING EXTRA

You can also look forward to five strong documentaries including the intimate story of the first Polish drag queen Boylesque or the Swiss documentary Fierce: A Porn Revolution about ethical porn. Among the anticipated films on the program are also three historical gems with the nineties hit My Life in Pink (Ma vie en rose), five distribution favorites including the latest Moneyboys or the non-competitive student section Queer as Film Schools.

Bolesque 7

The special block Ukraine is Queer deserves your attention. Four short films from Ukraine were selected by the programmer of the Kyiv Molodist IFF Bohdan Zhuk, who is on the main jury of this year's Mezipatra. We deeply appreciate it.
