M Is for Mothers / M de Mães

Brazilians Melanie and Marcela are expecting their longed-for twins. Together with documentary director Lívia Perez, we follow their everyday lives filled with the ordinary worries every new parent knows well: ultrasounds, consultations with midwives, natural birth versus C-section. Apart from that, though, the protagonists must deal with many other issues that heterosexual couples wouldn’t even think of. How to ensure the children bond with both mothers? How to fight the rigid healthcare system that still ignores the existence of same-sex parents? The M is for Mothers feature-length documentary shows the love and determination of two women on their journey to motherhood, and closely follows all the obstacles, fears and joys brought by this experience.
