Elephant / Słoń
Queer Kino presentsYou can’t choose where you’re born. Let alone what roles and labels others affix to you. You just have to live with these burdens even against your will. Take Bartek - he has spent his whole life in a small village in southern Poland, looking after not only his own mother but also a whole farm full of horses, cattle and poultry. In his spare time, he works behind the bar in the local pub and helps his elderly neighbours with their shopping. And as for some time to find himself – he has none. But a slightly older David comes to the village and something more than just a spark flares between them. Director and screenwriter Kamil Krawczycki paints an intimate and subtle portrait of a blossoming relationship, shifting identities and overcoming personal troubles in a confident, distinctive style. His feature debut won an award at the Gdynia Film Festival in Poland.
