What do Welsh miners and London gays and lesbians have in common? Margaret Thatcher and her anti-social and homophobic policies. It's 1984. Activist Mark notices that the police have stopped harassing gays and lesbians as they are busy cracking down on the miners' strikes. He decides to hold a fundraiser to support the striking families. But his efforts run into prejudice on both sides - gays and lesbians don't want to support people from homophobic backgrounds, and union officials don't accept gays and lesbians nor their money. So a group of activists travels to a small Welsh village to hand over the money directly. Based on true events, this touching comedy drama about overcoming prejudice, self-acceptance and solidarity relies on superbly portrayed characters, reminding us how important it is to bring all sections of society together. The film won a Queer Palm Award at the Cannes IFF.
