Pedro makes his living in chat rooms. As NeonBoy, he performs in front a webcam, dances, undresses, paints himself with fluorescent colors, and hopes that some of the viewers will pay for a private virtual dance. But the reality is much greyer. Pedro must leave university for assaulting a classmate who bullied him because of his orientation, and now he’s awaiting the court sentence. His sister, with whom he’s been inseparable since childhood, is moving out of Porto Alegre for a better future, just like many of Pedro’s peers. On top of that, Pedro finds out he has competition: the talented dancer Leo, who copied his paint idea. Pedro meets up with Leo and the duo starts performing together. They grow closer not just in front of the webcam. This sensitive and visually original film won the Teddy Award at this year’s Berlinale.
