- Visitors can also look forward to parties. The biggest, Fata Morgana with DJs Acado and DJ ODA, takes place on November 10th in Ankali club.
The 19th edition of Mezipatra Queer Film Festival will offer an opulent accompanying program. Apart from discussions and lectures, it will feature also exhibition openings and the popular parties.
“I personally most look forward to the burlesque and drag show which takes place in Patra community café on November 13th. It is a small taster of similar shows that people can see in other venues,” revealed the accompanying program coordinator Sára Němečková. “They also shouldn't miss the traditional brunch with discussion. It's the perfect spot where they can meet the team members and festival guests in an informal environment.”
Following the opening film of L'Animale, the accompanying program will launch in Prague with the Wildlife thematic party, featuring DJs Urxins and Step by Step. Mezipatra's biggest party, Fata Morgana, will take place in the industrial Ankali club on Saturday, November 10th. The headliners will be DJs Acado (formerly Techno Frühstück) from Berlin, and DJ and activist ODA from Kosovo. On November 13th, visitors can enjoy the aforementioned Ouch on the Couch – DRAG TOUCH!, which will bring the relaxed New York atmosphere to Vršovice. The stars of the evening will be burlesque and DRAG queens Angelina Angelic, Therese Rosier together with Chlorophyll von Needle, Hayley THE STRANGE and Gia Jones. At closing party of the Prague part of the festival called Show Us Some Love in Lucerna bar, music will be provided by DJs Vermillion and Elskё.
Most of the accompanying program takes place in Patra café again. The Connections exhibition opening will present photographs and calendars of the We ♥ Butts German photographers' collective, starting on November 5th. On November 10th, there will be a screening of short film See Me together with a discussion with representatives of LGTBQ+ youth, called Welcome to Our World. Discussion TRIGGER: Sound, Music and Voices of the Queer Community, featuring DJs ODA Haliti, Monster and Gaya, will focus on diversity in audio art. Hosted by Mary C, a music publicist and co-founder of Synth Library Prague. After the discussion, participants can enjoy a light warm-up party before the festival's main party. Visitors of the traditional Sunday brunch will have the opportunity to meet Stuart Richards, a jury member and the author of The Queer Film Festival: Popcorn and Politics, during a discussion called Popcorn and Politics: The Importance of Queer Film Festival. Queer History in the Era of Populism will be the focus of Birgit Bosold, the first woman leading the Schwules Museum in Berlin. The discussion will take place on November 12th. The unusual location of the small screening hall of Světozor cinema will be the venue for Entering the Vortex: Avant-Garde Science Fiction Cinema and the Lesbian Feminist Frontier, a lecture by associate professor Ramzi Fawaz from the Wisconsin-Madison University about the utopian visions of lesbian feminists.
Festival in Brno will launch with an epic opening with the host and stand-up comedienne Adéla Elbel. It will be followed by Animal Party with rhythms by Martin Hrdina and visual art by Michal Pavlík aka TYJSITY DJs. 1980S hits will be served at Ultra 80's Party which will occupy the glazed third floor of Tržnice on November 17th. Entertainment will be provided by DJs Messer and Giovanni together with Hoops Brno dancers. The festival will finish with the Closing Party in the unusual venue of Brno City Hall with DJ Ex-Ředitelka.
Other events of the accompanying program in Brno include the opening of Beyond Reality exhibition by the Motyčková sisters about the perception of LGBTQ+ community by the majority society. Those who want to learn more about social media can enjoy Instagram Workshop and meet queer YouTubers at YouTube Platform. For sports fans, there will be Acroyoga Workshop with the Joyful AcroYoga studio, and Warm up with Running vol. 3 with ultra-marathon runner Linda. Queer Walk around queer places in Brno will be physically less demanding. Participants may meet the love of their lives at Speed Dating or while competing together during the Queer Film Quiz, and, for the bolder ones, at the lecture of BDSM in the LGBT World with rigger Edna.
