My Summer of Love
Retrospective
The 2004 British film tells the story of two girls who meet in the middle of one scorchingly hot summer. While Tamsin is from a family where money is the last thing that might be a problem, Mona lives only with her brother in a tiny apartment above a former pub. Although the girls come from different environments, are both pretty headstrong and couldn’t be more different in terms of their nature, they grow close with ease. A bond of friendship is established, soon transforming into something much deeper. And when we add Mona´s brother, a former alcoholic who attempts to solve his problematic life through his search for God, and mysterious stories from Tamsin´s life, we get a combination evoking a lovely summer memory even at an autumn film festival.
