Queer Blender

Libuše Jarcovjáková is a global photography legend and a force of nature who defied all conventions. Her life is a whirlwind of fascinating encounters and wild stories – from the gritty underground of communist Czechoslovakia, through exclusive photo shoots for fashion elites in Tokyo, to a dramatic escape to West Berlin, where she witnessed the fall of the Iron Curtain. Unique snapshots from Libuše's life are imbued with the atmosphere of restless exploration of identity in a time that didn’t welcome strong personalities. With thousands of analog photographs and personal diary entries, director Klára Tasovská has crafted a one-of-a-kind cinematic portrait that goes beyond documentary traditions. Set to a darkly alluring electronic soundtrack, the photos come to life on the screen through the rhythmic editing of Alexander Kascheev. Libuše's endless search for her true self has captivated festival audiences from Berlinale to Karlovy Vary.
